My 14yr old male dsh cat frisky has a runny nose/sneezing/difficulty breating for almost 3 months. The vet tried amoxisylin for 10 days and benadryl antihystamine no good. Then for 10 days baytril and hydrocloride antihystamine was better for about 7 days and no good. Now would like to try antirobe auadrops and hydroclodide antihystamine. Will this work. Otherwise every possible test has been done and the cat is healthy. Please reply IP: Logged |

Ask your vet to rule out virals such as calicivirus and ask about ruling out a pseudomona, this is an infection within an infection, very often missed and difficult to treat. Lastly, rule out fungals or a nasal/sinus polyps, and lung/bronchial infection. Unfortunately, a scope view may be the only way to accurately diagnose, you might be able to get a reasonably priced scope exam by a vet university near you if your vet refers. I strongly suggest this as congestion is a serious matter and without a clear diagnosis, your vet is only treating the symptoms. IP: Logged |

Good idea with the sinuses mommyhugs, that is also overlooked as well. I had a cat who was sick for months and months and finally had to have surgery on her sinuses because it had gone on for so long without anyone catching it. IP: Logged |
