I have a 6 month old male cat. His name is coco. I brought him in to be fixed on March 4th. Since then he wont eat much and when he does he thows that up. He has lost a lot of weight and all he does is sleep. He has been checked for feline leukemia and feline aids and both are neg. I have checked his stool for worms and nothing. When I got him at about 6 weeks old he did have worms and was dewormed then. The vet has no idea what is going on with him but something is wrong! I know it. He was never a fat cat but he did keep a good weight.
What could be doing this. CAn anyone help me?

I would get a second, third opinion. blood work and possible dye tests to see what is what, and I wonder if they intubated him, they caused possible damage, albeit rare. Could anesthesia used have caused problems to the liver or neuro? Many things aren't found in blood testing or x-rays, and could run up a bill. But something is definitely not right. It isn't just that the hormone has adjusteds itself due to his neutering, he sounds like he has been going downhill. Find out what anesthesia/drug was used in the surgery from the vet. Ketamine is used often and it is a potent one. I hope and pray he gets better and you find your answer. God bless.

Thanks for the advice I am going to go and see another vet today and see what he says. I really don't care about the money I just want hiim healthy again. Plus I have animal insurance so it wont cost much anyway.
I just want him healthy that is the main thing.

So what did the vet say? Or is it too soon for the test results?
Let us know....Apart from post surgical complications, as Pauline suggested, it is still also possible that the original de-worming was not effective and your kitty still has worms or some kind of gastrointestinal parasite or infection.Often, the stool and anus show no sign of worms even when they are present.

HI sorry I have not updated you on my cat. He is doing GREAT! They ran a bunch of blood tests and took x-rays of his stomach and lungs. They said that he had a bacterial infection that was mostly from something in the room when he was fixed at the other vet. They put him on some med.'s for 14 days and by the 3rd day I could really see a difference in him. He is all well now and just as happy as can be. Thanks for all your help!!

Just goes to show that when first vet shrugs, it's time for a second opinion!
SO happy your kitty is back to normal.
Yay for Coco! And kudos to you too for "knowing" that something was really still wrong.
