We have a 14 1/2 year old female cat, who is a wonderful companion. She has a couple strange habits, and I wondered if anyone has an explanation for them. For one thing, each evening around 10, she will come down the hallway, with a favorite toy in her mouth - meowing for all she's worth. Any other time of day or evening, she barely makes a sound. The other thing she does, is that whenever I have wet hair, she will get up on the back of the couch, and rub her head against my wet head, as hard as she can - purring loudly the whole time. She only does this to me, no one else in the family. I'm just curious if these behaviors have any explanation. Thanks IP: Logged |

Hi Shirley! It sounds as though your cat has two personal and very normal habits- perhaps, she just feels more energized at night and wants to play (I have a feline friend who insists on sitting on my lap at the same time everyday for about ten minutes yet will not at any other time)- and perhaps, your own personal scent is increased when your hair is wet and rubbing her head against yours is her way of showing great affection- one of the cats living with me does the same thing...I also have another who, in the six years we have lived together, has not drank from a bowl, but insists on waiting around for a facet to be turned on and his tongue is right there above your hands (a habit that has worried me a bit- though I'm sure when we are not around he does drink from his bowl- I do hope anyway.) Cats, just like any other animals, including humans, have their own individual quirks and interests- enjoy your feline friend's odd habits, she sounds like one cool cat- ha ha. -Carrie IP: Logged |
