Hi my name is Vanessa and i was just wondering if you would know anything about cats eyes because my cats eyes have white coming from the side (by the nose). I think it has something to do with the iris. Its not stuff that is coming out of its eyes its part of them. Please,Please help if you know anything! I would really apperciate it! Thanks! Hi Vanessa! I can only think of two possibilities: the first- cataracts, just like what happens in people. The interior of the eye becomes cloudy or milky white. the second- ingrown eyelids, in this condition, the lids turn in (though you wouldn't be able to notice unless you look very closely) and press the lashes against the eye surface- the constant rubbing causes an ulcer to appear (which can be white.) Ingrown eyelids can be corrected with a fairly simple surgery. I hope this helps and your friend's eyes get back to normal soon- let me know what happens. -Carrie [This message has been edited by carrie (edited 04-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

Carrie, Thanks so much for the advice! I hope its nothing serious because he is supposed to be in a 4-H fair this year and its only a couple of months away! I think around July 4th. I am going to take him to a veterinarian soon I hope! Write Back! Vanessa IP: Logged |

Vanessa, I thought of something that completely slipped my mind the other day: cats have a third eyelid that is milky white in color and is usually fully open- this eyelid closing can be due to some kind of health problem- so if you can still see them, I would definitely take him to a vet...still let me know what you find out and good luck!!!
