The concerns over fish and high levels of mercury contamination have been in the news quite a bit lately, and while I do not eat fish myself, it's got me worried about the fish that I give to my cat.

Anyway, for those of you who have cats that eat fish either fresh or canned, I was wondering if any of you had considered this issue and come up with any good solutions. I'm going to buy some locally-caught northwest US salmon, which supposedly has a much lower chance of having mercury contamination. But is feeding my kitty a steady diet of salmon (along with some dry kibble) every day going to be good for her?

As the UK government have issued a HUMAN should only have two small tins of tuna a week so I don't think feeding your cat huge amounts of fish would be good for him.
However if you are feeding him 'farmed' fish there is much less likelihood of it having mercury in it as they are in carefully controlled water.
In the end I wouldnt worry too much but try to intersperse his diet with some white meat such as chicken or turkey as well.
