Both my cats will poop inside the box but at least 2 times a day they will poop outside the box (at least 1 time each). They will pee inside the box no problem but then they will poop outside the box. I have not changed their type of litter and I clean the box every morning. So the box is not "dirty". What would be making them poop outside of the box one time but then poop in the box another? They always poop right outside the box. Always in the same spots. Should I get another box? Could it be that they just want more room to poop in? I only have 2 cats and one litter box. Which has always been fine until now. IP: Logged |

Yes, another litter box might help. Some cats won't go if the box is dirty so maybe once they poop in it they won't go in there again unless the poop is removed. Definately try adding another box. IP: Logged |

I thought my cats were pooping oustide the box because it was dirty. I was actually wrong, it was because one cat was frightening the other when she was in the box! Thus making the one in the box leap out mid-poop! They have got out of that now but it is something to bear in mind. IP: Logged |
