I have a six-month-old kitten. At the age of two months he had antibiotics for a cough and cold from which he recovered, unfortunately he developed loose motions. It isn’t diarrhoea, just loose. Have been to the vets many times and received different medication. Last week took stool samples for investigation. These have come back with an all clear. He has had an anti-inflammatory injection and has also been taking "K gel" for 3 days. This seemed to help but is now loose again. Kitten is otherwise healthy, playful, eating and drinking. Can kittens suffer from irritable bowl and if so will he get better as he gets older? He and his brother are due to be neutered. The vet is reluctant to do this until we have solved this problem. Any ideas? Thanks. IP: Logged |

Sharron, I'm wondering if the vet has suggested a change of diet. It could be something he's eating that disagrees with him. Whatever it is it can't be all that bad if he's playing and eating and drinking. But I would try and get information about different diets, maybe try him on dry cat food for a while. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the reply. He is on a dry diet and I have tried him with a bland diet in special tins from the vets. So far today he has been ok, maybe his is on the mend fingers crossed I hope so. Will keep in touch. Love Sharron, Bob and Pippin. [This message has been edited by sharron (edited 04-30-2003).] IP: Logged |
