![]() ![]() ![]() I just bought a cute little kitten, but he's come down with a cold. He sneezes every so often, has some mucus around his nose that i keep cleaning off, and he's thrown up twice. He also has very runny bowel movements. The first time he vommited, he threw up some food, the last time though it was just mucus. Can anyone give me some pointers? I'm new to having a kitten, and he's got me really worried. He seems to be eating fine, and he's still playful. He has been spending most of the past 2 days sleeping, which i'm sure is good when you're sick. Thanks for your help! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Obviously a trip to the vet is in order...the kitten might just need some amoxicillin...which is not expensive and clears up a cold fast. Not sure about that vomiting tho... Good luck to you and your kitten! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I was hoping for some other answer, as I live over an hour and half from the vet ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe you could call the vet and see if he could prescribe something you could get filled at a local pharmacy. Not sure if a vet would do that without seeing the animal. Did you get kitty from a shelter? They can get all sorts of nasty things there and really should see a vet. Cats do vomit for very little reason, but combined with the other symptoms I would be worried.

![]() ![]() ![]() I went to the vet two days ago, and he asked me if my new kitten had been coughing/sneezing/runny nose, I said no. He said it is usually a sign of a respitory problem, it can easily be fixed if taken care of quickly. Good luck! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() My cat has the same problem. I bought her a few weeks ago at the Humane Society and now she has a cold and sneezes all the time. At first I did not think it was a big deal and that it would just go away. It seems to be getting worse and now I am concerned. I am going to call the vet today, but I wanted to see that was really necessary. I do not want to bring her in if it is something that will clear up on it's own. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going to the vet this afternoon. They didnt seem to think it was anythign serious, but they wanted to look at him. He also seems to be doing quite a bit better. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Colds are super common with kittens, but it's always something to worry about. Take him to the vet and they'll probably prescribe good old-fashioned amoxycillin. The Baytril supposedly stunts their growth. That's what my vet told me anyway. Good luck! IP: Logged |
