I have three cats, all rescues, all indoor cats. One is 6 yrs. one is 5 yrs. and the other is 4 yrs. The youngest, Kameko is quite a bit overweight. One night last week, she starting acting strangely, kinda "full moon" crazy. Mewing and running around the house and VERY sensitive in her hind parts. That passed in about a half hour or so. This week, I think it's a week to the day she started again, but worse this time. I tried to check her butt to see if there was anything there, but could see nothing and she totally FREAKED out. All out claws, and FLED from the situation. Anyone have any ideas? Her breathing is very heavy and labored as well, she usually breathes heavy because of her weight, but it's a little worse now. Thanks for the advice, just wanted to post an update on Kameko's situation. I did in fact take her to the vet on Saturday, he checked her over, gave her a shot of cortizone and expressed her anal glands (ewww!) He seems to think it is an external issue, perhaps something bit her, although he didn't see any critters in her fur or evidence of bite marks on her skin. He said it could also have been a new carpet deodorizer, air freshener, or something of that nature that she is reacting to. She has had one episode since then but it was brief and she seems to be fine now! Thanks so much for the replies, I was seriously STRESSING out! This always happens when there is no one open to call and talk to! Wish you all could see her, she is absolutely gorgeous and just as sweet as she is beautiful! Thanks again! IP: Logged |
