My cat died Sunday 9-14-03 4:15 P.M. He was 13 years old This is so hard for me My children are 8 and 3 I feel like a bad mother for letting my children see my so upset. I knew Smitty was sick about 2 weeks ago i noticed he would not eat anymore all he would do is drink alot of water He would fall asleep drinking water. I have never seen anything like it I noticed he had lost some weight and was walking funny and that he would not walk very long He would not come in the house anymore. So yesterday when I was outside he crawled to me so i picked him up he was purring but could not meow very well He looked up at me tryed to meow and died in my arms. This is the worst feeling i have ever felt. Smitty, I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. You absolutely should not feel like a bad mother AT ALL. In fact, you are a great person for being so caring about your cat. You had him for 13yrs, so it's understandable that you are upset, do not feel bad about letting your emotions show, it's all part of the healing process. I had a 17yr old cat that had a similiar situation. She was constantly drinking water, and would fall asleep at the bowl. I took her to the vets, and they diagnosed her with diabetes, unfortunately I had to have her put to sleep in January, because she had so many different problems that could not be cured, and I didn't want her to suffer anymore. Hang in there, it does get easier, only time can make things better. IP: Logged |

Smitty You didn't do anything wrong, in fact knowing that your cat curled up to you and died in your arms says a lot about what kind of owner you were. I sense that your cat had great comfort level with you, after all its last living act was to be in your arms. I am sorry for your loss IP: Logged |

I want to thank everyone for being so nice. It really helps. I just want to stop the pain. I know it will take time ... I just hope he knows how much I love him. Everything I own reminds me of him. I had him before I had anything Now he is gone I wish I knew what to do without him.

I'm so sorry to here that. My cat got diagnosed with kidney problems and after a week we put him to sleep. He was very sick and wasn't himself. It was the hardest thing me and my family had ever dealt with. You cat's symtoms seem to be the same as my cat's. Since I have another cat, we were scaared that she'd get lonely so we got a five month old kitten the day after we put him to sleep. Getting another cat this soon or ever, might not be the same for you though. I depends on the person. I'm very sorry about your loss. IP: Logged |

The first time I read your message I didn't relize that your cat died on Sept. 14th. It's weird because mine died on the 15th. IP: Logged |
