Help my cat has an ear infection, is it normal for my cat to put up a fight just to put solution in her ear? Would you recommend ear wipes instead of the solution? Also, my cat is a female is it normal for her to act like a boy sometimes if you know what I mean. She bites the blanket and goes at it? Also now when she gets mad she breathes real loud out of her nose, is she sick or is that normal? And one more thing I hardly hear my cat purr is she not happy, I mean hardly ever. IP: Logged |

I just got my first kitten a few months ago .. but she purrs super loud. Purring isn't always a sign of happiness, so don't get discouraged. IP: Logged |

Yes, it is normal for a cat to not want you to put something in her ear. Especially since it's infected. If the vet says the wipes are as effective as the solution then you should do whatever is easier. I'm assuming you took her to the vet. If you haven't please do! As far as "acting like a boy"....that is normal too. My 7 month old kitten is crazy! She wrestles with paper towel rolls and chases everything from the dogs tail to me. She's a kitten!! :-) The breathing out the nose I'm not sure about. I do have one older, and slighly overweight, cat that does this. Its usually one or two sighs through the nose after something has irritated him. I am speaking from a house of 4 cats and one kitten. One of my cats rarely purrs. This concerned me at first but then I just realized that she shows her happiness in other ways. She may not purr when I pet her but when she flops down in front of me and rubs against me I know she is happy. Another cat will begin purring very loudly the second you touch him. These are the two extremes in my house with everything in-between. Hope this helps! IP: Logged |

Every cat i have ever owned hated having anything put in their ears. You just have to let them fight. Sometimes they just dont know you are helping them. Dont worry about your kitten acting like a boy. Shes just very active. All kittens are really nosy, And very hyper. My gram has a cat who instead of hissing breaths really heavy out of his nose. It hasnt been anything to worry about since hes been to the vets about 2 every year and hes done it since he was about 5 weeks old. At the moment i have a cat who only purrs for me and when she does the only way you can really tell is if you touch her ribs because they vibrate when she purrs. Maybe your cat purrs but you dont realize it because shes real quiet. Dont worry about your cat. I dont think any cat can be considered 'normal' They are their own being. lots of luck! ------------------ IP: Logged |

One of mine also breathes heavy through his nose when he gets mad...he also does this sometimes while he is sleeping. My vet suggested that he may have mild asthma. IP: Logged |
