Hi My cat Mufassa sometimes kneads both myself as well as his fleece bed he makes a purring noise while doing it and bites on the bed. After he is done though he cleans up "down there" is this something else he is doing? IP: Logged |

Kneading is how a kitten stimulates mom to give milk. When adult cats do it, it means they are contented and comfortable and happy. His cleaning is not related - probably just bath time.

I have an older male cat who takes clothes and drag them to another room, sometimes clear across to the other side of the house. It's rare to actually see him do this but he then will knead whatever it is and make a funny moaning noise. I've only caught him a couple times as he does it when he thinks everyone is asleep. Just thought I'd share that story.... :-) IP: Logged |

I don't have an answer, but I have wondered the same thing. Most of the time my cats knead on my leg or a blanket and it is fine. I have a stuffed lion that is usually under my covers. If I leave the lion out one of my male cats will knead on him and it just doesn't look quite right. He started this before he was fixed and still does it sometimes but not as often. I'm not too sure what is going on but I break it up and put the lion under the covers. One of my females has started doing this too. It's not the normal kneading and it looks creepy. It's only on the lion though so I keep him where they can get him. Maybe someone else has the answer. IP: Logged |

Hi thank you very much for your input. I guess whatever it is is natural so hey as long as he is happy that's all that matters hehe.. Thanks once again for your help. IP: Logged |

I'm no expert heehee, but my cat had a "girlfriend" that was in fact a stuffed dog of mine. Mostly he spent time with her "romantically" before he was fixed. But either way...what does it matter? All people masturbate, and probably most animals, certainly mammals, too. Let him get his jollies, especially because it is far superior to breeding a bunch of unwanteds. And to the person who said she finds it creepy and breaks it up (with the stuffed lion) c'mon bud, share your snuggler with the little hornball. It's perfectly natural...and wonderful to see an animal who (finally) isn't ashamed to do what's safe and pleasurable! IP: Logged |
