I have a cat who loves chicken. If im cooking it she sits behind my legs and waits for it. If i go out to eat and bring chicken home she will cry till she gets a piece. I never eat anything but boneless/skinless chicken so im not worried about her eating any bones (which i know could kill her) but im not sure if its bad for her. I have always said its a treat for her but a couple days ago my friend told me all human food could kill her. I know that isnt true but im just making sure about the chicken. The biggest thing about this that confuses me is most cat food has chicken in it. Am i hurting her? Also what foods should i never give her?

Hi I give my cats chicken as well. They seem to know the sound of the packaging and come running! I don't think its harmful so long as its fresh. If you won't eat it, then don't give it to your cat. As for foods they can't have, I'm sure others may know more, but I do know that chocolate is lethal! Milk isn't good for them either as they have difficulties digesting lactose. IP: Logged |

In addition to chocolate, I believe that cheese is a no-no. Those are the only two that I have heard from people that cats should never eat. I also give my cats chicken as a treat when I'm eating it. It has never harmed them. IP: Logged |

I don't think cheese is dangerous for them to eat. It can cause diarrhea b/c it is dairy if they eat a lot. Small amounts wouldn't hurt them. IP: Logged |

I have heard about chocolate and milk being bad for cats but i wasnt to sure. My kitten likes apple sauce. Will that hurt him? I found out when i left a bowl of chuncky applesauce on my coffee table and when i went back to it... He had it all over his paws and his face and the bowl was empty. He never got sick but i think its a bit odd he has a taste for it. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yes it is perferctly safe to give cats chicken or any kind of meat not to sure about liver as its high in iron.. Apple sauce should be fine if given as a treat and not all the time mums cats havent had a problem with it as they love it.. Water is best given rather than milk.. Chocolate is harmful to animals .. Garlic is fine as if given in a small amount into there food it helps repel fleas so i been told but i never had a problem with fleas.. Onion is not good for cats. Cheese can be given in very small amounts but i dont like giving animals dairy products... my dogs gets high protien milk from the vets when they are lactating... IP: Logged |
