My cat merlin is 5 and he has been throwing up all day. He is an inside cat and throws up every now and then from hairballs which I give him medicine for. Today he started in the morning throwing up about three times an hour. He hasnt gotten into anything and he is throwing up frothy liquid. He moans and meows and its obvious that he feels bad. It is late and the vet is closed. Does anyone know anything I can give him to help or what is going on with my baby.. please help..thanks

Im not sure what might be causing this but last year my cat Hoggle, began throwing up foamy bile and was puking several times per hour and could'nt seem to stop. I got nervous and called the ER vet and they told me to check his gums and make sure they were'nt pale and if they were'nt to just watch him until the next day when I could go to the regular vet. He was fine the next day and I never found out what caused it. Do you have an ER vet that you could call?

It could be a blockage. My cat had similar symptoms plus a few other like blood in her poop and a blockage was one of the possible causes. If he doesn't get better soon take him to the vet.

I also have a cat named Merlin. Of course with as many cats as I have, other people are bound to have some of the same names.

My Cat Boris had a blockage (he ate an earplug)... he was throwing up green bile and was trying to go into our crawl space in the basement to die. He was so severe so quickly, we rushed him to the emergency vet.

Obviously, your problem could be a number of things... but it sounds severe enought that I'd contact an emergency vet and get the cat there. If you can't do that and the cat doesn't improve, I would get the cat to the vet the very first thing when it next opens.

I hope it all works out. Keep us posted.

My cat, Rowdy, which is turning 14 this year has had serveral bouts of mysterious vomiting.
All times with the exception of the last time, were due to her eating bugs. They irritated the ling of her stomach. The vet gave us a prescription and sent us on our way. She was back to normal in a day or two.
The last time was a bit more serious as she is getting older. Turns out her thyroid was a bit off. But again, once she started her meds for her thyroid she was back to normal. I hope this helps to alieve some of your anxiety
