I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile but life has been busy. Cleo and Amaretto are acting like sisters and are no longer fighting or biting each other. They lie side by side in the hallway, kiss each other, and playfight all the time. We had to put Cleo on a diet because the Vet said she was at a health risk due to her rapid weight gain. I'm curious if anyone knows about a cats ability to remember past events. Do they have a poor short term and long term memory? Is there a book that people would reccomend? IP: Logged |

Im glad to hear how well your cats are now getting along.
quote: I found this link which mentions memory: http://petplace.netscape.com/Articles/artShow.asp?artID=3389 "Cats, like people, have short-term and long-term memory functions. Having short and long term memory is the reason cats can remember where the litter box is when it has just been moved it (short-term memory) but can also remember things learned years before, like what the litter box is for (long-term memory)." There is a book called "The Cat's Mind" by Dr.Bruce Fogle that may be of interest to you. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I am so glad that they are getting along. I think cats have pretty good memories. My chasing situation hasn't resolved quite as well I put up a post about it. The one that was getting chased is now chasing the cats who were chasing her. We have yet to come to the happy balance where no one chases each other! IP: Logged |
