My cat is about 7 years old. Ever since he was fixed he got huge! But in the last couple of days he has been crying constantly, he won't eat or drink-he isn't going to the bathroom! His breath smells so bad, & his equilibrium is off! I don't know what to do-I don't have a job, nor any money right now! Any suggestions at what he could have? I have force fed him water, but he threw it up! He is acting a bit lethargic also! I am so worried & I don't want to lose him! If your cat is extremely over weight this could be a sign of diabetes. If it is not diabetes it is most likely something only a vet could help you with. If it diabetes it can be solved through isulin shots. Another possibility could be stomach cancer. Bad breath is often a sign of this. Yet once again it would need a vets help. IP: Logged |

Thank you-I was afraid of this! His stomach is huge & hangs all the way to the floor! I have a feeling it's not diabetes because he would be probably drinking alot-but he isn't! When I touch his stomach-he meows really loudly & it's a long meow! I am devestated cause I have a feeling he won't make it through the night-he is just howling constantly from being in pain, but I got a coupon from a local vet for a free check-up off of a web site, so maybe they will tell me! I'll make the appointment first thing in the morning! It's hard because he has been with me for so long! [This message has been edited by Leesa (edited 11-30-2003).] IP: Logged |

Be wary of vets who give free exams, usually they do that to get people in the door to sell them services. It might be better to pay the exam fee and get a vet who wont try to get you to pay for things that aren't wrong. IP: Logged |
