my cat sugar has a urination problem, she is fixed. She is litter trained but every so often she pees on things that are on the floor, mostly clothes, and pillows stuff like that, we have to pretty much put her in the litter box ourself. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to stop her from doing this? IP: Logged |

She may have a urinary infection. Which means she can't help where she pees. You will have to take her to the vets to get medication (if this is the cause). Another member (hope they don't mind that I mention them) here named Fleafly once mentioned that his/her cats did not like a messy house and if Fleafly left stuff on the floor the cats would pee on it. So, Fleafly has since tried to keep the house free of piles/messes. I would still take your kitty to the vet to rule out any health problems. My 4 year old cat Shorty was having this same problem. It turned out to be a Urinairy track infection. Does he show any signs of struggles when he is urinating? And how much urine is coming out when he is doing this? Normal amount or little here and there? If it is any urinairy infection, the cat is in pain when he/she urinates. So when he urinates in the litter box he asociates the litter box with pain which cases him to go elsewhere, to where the cat thinks will be a more friendly place not causing any pain. The cat will also hold it in to try to avoid urinating as much as possible, which in turn leads to un-controlled urinating. I remember times when Shorty had this problem and I could just tell when he was looking for a spot (outside of litter box) to urinate. I would pick him up to carry him to his litter box and while I can carrying him, he is peeing everywhere! Has this just started or has he ever liked the litter box? IP: Logged |
