I have a baby gate up to keep the dogs off of the back porch. It is barely off of the ground b/c I wanted it low enough to step over. Last night one of my cats went under it and I was amazed that she could fit. I was so amazed that I measured how much room there was. It is 3 1/8 inches off of the ground. She is a full grown calico who weighs about 8 pounds. She had no problem fitting under it, she just went right under. I know cats can fit through small spaces, but I didn't know quite how small. It's a good reminder that they get out of cracked windows and stuff even if the opening is really small. IP: Logged |

HI Fleafly, yeah its amazing how they know they can get through small spaces if it wasnt for there whiskers there would be alot of stuck kittys. there whiskers should be wider than there body and when they go through a small opening if there whiskers bend the cat knows that they would get stuck if they tried going through. I think cats are very intelligent animals mike IP: Logged |

I think it's cool that they can squeeze through! IP: Logged |

having said that about the whiskers all of my cats squeeze through gaps that there whiskers get bend in, especially when they go under the bath. Maybe I just have very stupid kittys! IP: Logged |
