I recued a cat four months ago that I have been feeding for almost a year. Her and her mother use to run the streets around my house and when a neighbour caught her in a racoon trap, we took her in. I still feed the mother, and if we could catch her, we'd take her in too. She is a lovely playful cat and I have managed to get really cloce to her. she rolls on her back a lot, plays with toy mice loves catnip and playing with my hand. Are there any success stories dealing with ferral cats...all i hear is that it is impossible. Also, any suggestions on getting clocer?. thank you IP: Logged |

This site has some tips on dealing with/taming ferals: http://www.forgottenfelines.com/new/pages/info/tame.html My grandmother managed to tame a feral but it took her a very long time to completely gain her trust. She was gradually able to pet her and after some time the cat was allowing her to pick her up and then one day she just picked her up and put her in the house. The cat was upset and hid under the bed for a few days but seemed pretty content in the house after that. IP: Logged |

Well, I've got a boy named Tom we rescued about a month ago. He's still quite young maybe 3 months or so, and the only problem I'm stuck with now is keeping him from pooing in one spot in the house. He uses his litterbox, but leaves one present everyday by my boyfriends chair. I think I've made progress, he hasn't done it in 2 days!! YEAH!!! just be patient, they'll come around. IP: Logged |

Hi It is completly possible to train feral cats. All the cats I had in my life were wild at some point...My most recent and still very skittish and relly only responds to me. She barely tolerates my husband and is terrified of my toddler. I got her at 7 months and it took months afterwards before she would actually come over to me onher own to be petted. Just be patient and loving and she will come around. Good luck! IP: Logged |
