3 of the 5 vets at the last vet office i worked for declawed their cats. One did his two new cats during the time I worked there. I'm not making a statement about anything...just that 3 cat health professionals apparently felt that the procedure they performed was safe/humane enough for their own cats. Either that or they secretly hate their own catS? Dont know. Two of mine arent declawed and one is...thats because I adopted her that way. I still dont understand how THREE families gave up this cat. 2 year old purebred litterbox trained friendly persian cat. Declawed so it clearly doesnt destroy anything....yet it was still given up THREE times. Thats kind of OT though. I didnt pick her because of her claws....Im rather neutral to the whole thing. Then again I've never had a problem with cats and their claws and also never seen a cat suffer because of the procedure. The ones I saw at the vet were dopey on drugs for a day then playing the day after as normal. Guess I dont really have an opinion on it. (oh and of the other 2 vets that didnt have their cats declawed...one hated cats and one I didnt get an opinion from but she had two cats with claws) IP: Logged |

Wow.....the cat I was just talking about (had her about a week now) just came down and wanted some cuddling...so I was carrying her around on my shoulder and went to put her down...and found one claw hanging on to my shirt....I was shocked! Her back paws werent declawed but I could have SWORE that she was declawed....I found that she has ONE paw declawed entirely. Her front left. Her front right has all the claws!!! How strange is that?? Why would only one paw get declawed?? Unless maybe it was a birth defect I suppose?? IP: Logged |
