The facts
Spay/neuter improves pet health and behaviour while lessening the burden on overcrowded animal shelters and taxpapers.
Fewer homeless animals would be roaming the streets and turning up at shelters if all cat and dog owners had their pets altered at the appropriate time.
Diseased colonies of leukemia, Feline AIDS and FIV carrying cats would cease to exist and the reservoir of contagion would not put owned pets at risk.
Billions of dollars nationally could be re-allocated to community programmes rather than being spent on euthanasia of unwanted animals.
