It's hard losing your best friend and not being able to help him or her when there is something wrong. My cat of 15 years passed away yesterday. A couple months ago she was attacked by a dog and had her jaw broken and wired. She survived and recovered quickly. About a month ago she stopped eating for a week and lost alot of weight went from 13 pounds down to 7. The Doctor didn't think it was wise to put her asleep to take out the wires because of her age. After a week she started eating again and acted like nothing was wrong. But since the attack she acted like her mouth bothered her like something was poking inside her mouth but she still ate. A couple days ago she stopped eating again and all of a sudden was literally bones. All she did was sleep, moving place to place in every room like she was finding a spot to die. I felt so helpless watching my cat suffer. The next day she started walking like her hips were going out and was bleeding from her mouth. She just laid there with her eyes open like she was afraid to fall asleep in fear of not waking up. I thought I would wake up and she would be fine until I was informed she had muscle spasms all night and kept twitching. I woke up yesterday and peeked my head inside the room she was in and that was it. Her stomach expanded like a large hiccup and she was gone. I am completely sadden and so lost by the loss of my cat that I've had since I was 10 years old. I know she isn't suffering anymore but I wish I could of saved her. My Family and I did all we could. We gave her a beautiful burial that she deserves. My heart goes out to everyone who has ever lost a pet in their life. This is my first expierence in dealing with a death of a pet. Thank you for letting me grieve on here. Melissa IP: Logged |

I'm so sorry. A lot of us here know all too well how you're feeling right now. If you look at the posts there are a few other people here going through the same thing. It's not easy. Hang in there. IP: Logged |
