I hope this isn't too personal, but I was just curious if people who have cats and are very devoted to their well being are less likely to have children. I have read that the opposite is true, that if you don't have kids then you are more likely to have at least one pet. I have 3 cats and no children (and no plans to have any). IP: Logged |

I have 2 sons - one 27 other will be 15 in March. I have 3 cats and one dog and one Beta fish. Always wanted kids...I had my oldest son when I was 19 and unmarried. I worried about my capabilities as a parent - I remember my mother telling me that if I treat my children like I always treated my pets I would be just fine. I also foster cats. IP: Logged |

Hello. I don't think they are related (having cats and no children). That's up to the individual. If people go out and try to meet others and put themselves into social environments they'll be more likely to meet people and find a mate. In which case that may lead to having children. However, if people don't make any effort to get out in the world to meet people the chances of finding a mate will be slim. IP: Logged |

in my case, i doubt their related. whether i want to have kids or not will depend on a variety of factors, including the kind of man i'm with, my financial status, his financial status, the situation, and a host of other reasons. cats on the other hand..... well they're easier to cope and handle! so there aren' as many "issues" for me in that department. how they are both connected.... i can't quite join the dotted lines in my case. ///ej ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hmmm...I guess I've never really thought about that. I don't have any children but do have several pets....though Im sure I'd still have pets even if I had children. IP: Logged |

Oh and I have three children 2 daughters ages 22 and 19 and one son age 16. I also have dogs, cats, ferrets, and one rabbit. So I guess it doesn't matter to me either way. I love them all. Kids and animals alike!! (Sometimes I have to admit, I enjoy the animals better) They don't talk back to me!!! Susan IP: Logged |

I have no kids, though I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 horses, cattle, a goat, goldfish and of course a boyfriend. SO I've got the regular farm! Not to meantion the rescue dogs and pups. I hope to have children, at least 2 boys. But I'm happy and content at the moment! IP: Logged |

I have 4 cats and no kids. My husband really wants children and I'm reluctant, but probably will have them. We're on the 'five year plan' - we just got married a year and a half ago so we want to enjoy some time together before any kids come into the picture. But, we'll probably have kids in a few years. I believe that we would make good parents. I personally, cannot have children but there is no love lost in our houseful of feline children. Our oldest is 14 and youngest is just over 1 yr old, and everything in between with seven of the most spoiled cats I know. IP: Logged |
