Hi, I posted a message about extra toes on cats and i got a reply that your cat has extra toes. Could i please see a picture. I'm going to look at a litter of kittens and half of them have extra toes. One even has 8 toes i think she said!! Thanks!! IP: Logged |

I bumped up MaryNH's post that has a pic of her kitty Zeus's paws (with extra toes). The post is by MaryNH and the post is called 'Cat Paws.' IP: Logged |

You're welcome. If you reply to her 'cat paws' post she could then answer any questions you have regarding the extra toes. IP: Logged |

saw the post Zeus has a total of 24 toes...2 extra on each front paw and one extra on each back paw. Thing you have to watch out for is the wee little toes in the middle cause there is usually a wee little claw in there that tends to curl inward - I clip his a lot (he actually clicks on the floor when he walks and then I know it's time for our clipping wrestling match - he hates it). The little claws also tend to develop cuticle issues which have to be taken off or the claw can't retract - so those extra toes are a lot of work. But those poly cats tend to be hiliarious...some have been able to learn how to use those extra toes like a thumb (my vet said it can't happen but people I've asked online have had cats with the extra toes learn how to pry things open...but vet says they can't hyperextend them so who knows - I know he never had a polydactyl cat) But the extra claws do take some extra attention...and congrats with getting a new kitty IP: Logged |
