well since i just graduated college (in may) all i have living with me is bella (shih poo).. she's all i can afford now since i insist on treating her like a little princess with supreme quality food, tons of toys, spaying and vacs.. however, at my parents, about 20 min from me, we have one lhasa apso, sasha, and five cats.. I have my Shih Poo Winnie. "Winnigirl" is what most people call her. Other nicknames given to her by her "aunts" (aka, my friends) "innie-minnie-winnie", "winnie-woo", "win-win" and of course "winniegirl". its just her and i in my one bedroom apt. (well i have seven fish in a ten gallon tank, but they arent as much fun..but they are relaxing to watch!) but she does have a "boyfriend" and his name is Toronto. Hes a big dog, but when we say "wheres your bf?" her ears perk right up and she knows where we are going...(they are both fixed by the way..that would be one odd breed..) when i say "wheres daddy?" she knows that my bf will be around soon. (he HATES that!!! i love it!!). shes a great pet!!!! can someone be too emotionally attached to their dog? i am and i feel it might be too much. winnie got sick this past weekend and i was CRYING at the docs office. she is my baby!!! am i nuts?? sebastian is a cutie!! i cry at the vet with Harley too. in fact i ALMOST cry when i leave her at the groomers. only because i know shes stressed and she hates it because she doesn't know these people and mommy & daddy are gone and they are touching me touching me TOUCHING me what are those scissors and WHY is there a bow in my hair??? it stresses me too! i don't know if you can get too emotionally attached....probably. but i wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks Sebastian gets nervous going to the groomer as well but they are so nice and sweet to him there I really think it helps calm him down and makes his grooming experience (and mine) so much less stressful. IP: Logged |

I was wondering if anyone her owns a shih poo like me? Mine is such a cutie but he bites alot, does anyone know if it is in the breed (not saying it's a breed) or if it is just him? Can anyone give me advice on what to do, please respond, PLEASE! IP: Logged |

if your dog is a puppy it's in his nature to bite that's what all puppys do untill they are taught differently.when he bites you tell him no and give him a chew toy, when he chews it tell him he's a good boy.continue to do this for a while untill he stops biting you it could take a couple if days or it could take a couple of weeks depending on your dog [This message has been edited by iluvmypup (edited 07-09-2003).] IP: Logged |

this is going to sound so silly, but when winnie was going through that i told her "do nice!" in a stern, but gentle voice. she caught on and now i only have to say it once and she is very gentle!!! IP: Logged |
