I just wanted to know... is there yet a set time for us to talk yet? I have LOTS of questions for any owner of a maltepoo and would love the chance to speak with any of you. Hope to chat with ya soon. IP: Logged |

THANKS! You really responded quickly to my question! I am just wanting to find info on the maltepoo. I am wanting very badly to adopt or buy one for my family. The only problem I keep encountering is-- I have read several articles saying mix-breed puppies may be a "bad-buy". The reason being is that you don't know what trait you're getting from which breed. I have researched for over a year to be sure of which breed is best suited to my household and Maltese is what we found, however,I, am more interested in the Maltepoo. Does anyone know if there is a GREAT DIFFERENCE between one or the other? Thanks IP: Logged |

I have a min poodle. and I have had neighbors with very small maltes. Either way you will have an extremely cute little dog where the maltese genes are stronger or the poos. Maltese seem to be very headstrong and almost seem like they think they are big. My neighbors was about 4 lbs. and she barely had to walk her(itty bitty) She would go 1/4th a block the dog would do its business and turn around to go home. I think with any small dog they tend to get really attached to their main caretaker. It seems even more so than the bigger dogs. My poodle honestly believes she should be attached to my hip and believes its her god given right to go where ever I go. If I can't take her with me I will return to a dog laying on the couch pouting literally. She makes huffing noises if I brush my other dog too long and would rather it be her. She is such a sweetie in my eyes. IP: Logged |

Lots of thanks to the members of this group for being so helpful,so quickly!! I REALLY thought the suggestion for a halter instead of a leash is a WONDERFUL option instead of damaging the throat of a smaller puppy! All of you are really making me look forward to our new family member!! Now, if we could just FIND him/her!!! IP: Logged |

forgot to mention..my daughter has a black maltipoo, his name is Rocky. Harley is about 12 lbs, Rocky is only about 7lbs. Where Harley got mostly maltese i think Rocky got mostly poo. They are similar in looks but different if that makes sense. this is what they tell me you run into with the poo crosses--no guarantees on looks or temperment, size, etc. Harley is not a lap dog. she wants her love & attention but she doesn't want to be beside you on the couch (to my dismay) she would rather be on her bear chair or the floor. where Rocky, more poo, likes nothing better than to snuggle up next to you in the evening. Harley is the princess in every way, lol. neither one of them shed though, which is fantastic! oh, as someone told me once, everything with hair sheds...let me say that they shed very little. you do not find hair on the couch or carpet after they get up. i mean never. when you brush them of course you get hair in the brush but my corgi-shepard mix sheds buckets....Harley or Rocky, not a bit. another huge plus in my book. when you do find them they can be very expensive. I hate that but its a fact. hard to find and expensive when you do. but they are little dolls. Harley was my last years birthday present and i've told my husband, shes the best present i've ever had and i've had a few birthdays, lol. shes our empty nest child and spoiled rotten. she has mom and dad wrapped around her finger. i do hope you find the puppy your looking for. I have a cocka-shih-poo. Hehe, what a mouthfull. I'm totally willing to exchange any info with you about the poo mixes. I owned a standard poodle before too, which will make most questions easy to answer because all the poodle mixes tend to have poodle behavior traits. Ask for help or answers from me anytime. PS - what's the link for the chat room? I can't find it anywhere on this site because I just joined 3 days ago! IP: Logged |
