Hi Angel_eyez, I'm sorry for the situation you are in. I want to give you good advice so here it is. Firstly many times (not always) mini or tea cup dogs often have more problems such as liver shunts, hypoglycemia, and other things. And alot of times the smaller the dog the higher the cost so this would probably be a problem? I paid 500.00 for my Maltese and he is a joy to my life and is healthy. I'm sad to say you pay for what you get. Sooo many breeders are puppymills and they will sell you a dog for cheaper. I have had this done to my in the past and it ended with me with vet bills and my puppy had to be put to sleep because of parvo. (he was very young yorkie mix) But try www.puppyfinder.com www.petfinder.com also check your local shelter, they have little dogs who just like you are wanting a new bestfriend! And they are usualyl alot cheaper! I hope this helps and I hope you find the perfect buddy for your life! IP: Logged |

Hi Angel_eyes,I am out here in cali too. Divorce sucks, besides what luvpets says which is all too true. If your dad is willing try the rescue groups at www.amrt.net They are all based here in california. I found my two dogs on this site. There is a private adoption page and also a huge list of different rescue groups for many different breeds. I am going to take a look there now for you. You just keep your head up. School will start soon and then you will start to make new friends. If you have hobbies like biking swimming, you are bound to make friends, even church. You will be fine. You know besides that we are here if you need some advice ok. Be strong. Sometimes when you are faced with something new you just need to be strong and go out and just start talking to people. Getting a dog also always brings attention to you. Everyone wants to talk with you when you have a cute dog with you. They are an ice breaker. I would say getting a dog at least 5 to 10 lbs wouldbe safer for the dog as tiny ones are very very fragile. Here is one of the rescue groups from amrt.net Its heartsforhounds www.heartsforhounds.com/ They deal with small dogs. Good luck let us know what you come up with, I'm rooting for ya. For your situation I would suggest Petfinder, also you can try a search under small dog rescue and you'll find a ton of links. If you can't come up with the $500. to pay for the dog you may want to consider a smaller older dog. Everytime I take my little ones to the vet, if a shot is involved it's going to be about $75.00 per pop, the office visit is $40.00 without a shot and if they need medicine for earmites, worms etc that can all be extra... If you go to a shelter you can find a dog that's already had it's shots and been fixed. Please don't buy a puppy if you won't be able to afford the maitenance, they are living things and need care from a professional. I live in Jersey and I noticed that you can find pure breed dogs in shelters of the more expensive towns, yorkies included. Sometimes these dogs were given as gifts or just purchased and the person didn't realize that a dog was so much work so off the $1000.00 dollar pooch goes to the pound. You can find them you just have to look. Good Luck ;o) IP: Logged |
