I believe that since it has the genes of the smooth coated mother in her she could have either or both. The only way to be sure is to have two dogs with only the same hair type otherwise its a toss up of which gene turns up in the pups. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Puttin,That is true .You could get either one or a combination. When the puppy pulls the genes that determines the coat ,color ,growth pattern ,you will never know until they are born .Also ,each litter will vary and even same littermates will vary .To get a certain coat you must breed 2 of the same breeds and not related to each other . Hi. I would just like to get this right, you had a 4year old bitch which you had mated then had her spayed after the litter and then put her up for adoption yet you kept a puppy. Well sounds like your just breeding your dogs to try and make yourself the perfect pooch. Breeding and the genetics of dogs is not something that should be just done willy nilly. I dont mean to sound nasty and others will tell me if i am wrong but i think getting rid of one dog so you can breed her daughter is not right. So much can and will go wrong when breeding and the risk of losing the mother during birth is also very high. Please think long and hard before breeding from this dog and have her spayed. mike IP: Logged |

I think you should have kept your female too. It just does not sound right giving her up and keeping her pup. Weren't you attached to her at all. Thats what I thought when I first posted also, but had not said anything yet. ------------------ IP: Logged |
