I have a 6month old Shitzu which we leave in the back room in the kitchen while we're not home, but lately she's been barking and howling in that same back room. What do you think it could be? has anyone else experienced this or is it just me? Just curious. IP: Logged |

It could be separation anxiety. How long is she left alone? Do you crate her while she's in that room? When my Shih Tzu/Poodle mix was that age, I'd crate her during the day and let her out for half an hour at lunchtime. Her crate became like her den or happy spot and then her anxiety wasn't so bad. Thanks for your reply. she's in a small room actually and we just have it gated so that she doesn't come out. She's in there for about 4- to 5 hours only and then we let her out to play, but I just think it's weird that she's been howling and barking at the wall in the kithen and at first I thought it was towards her food. She even woke me up last night at around midnight just howling and barking in the kitchen. Also, she got spayded last week do you think it might be because of that? maybe she's in pain or something? I just hope it stops. IP: Logged |

If she's been doing it all along its not the spaying. She should be feeling pretty good concerning that by now. She just wants some company. Make sure she gets plenty of excercise to help tucker her out. So she will be more apt to sleep at night. Puppies are like babies you have to give them their transition time. Let the puppy bark, get some ear plugs. Soon she will find that you don't come running at every bark and will decide to be good. She loves you and wants to be with you. Soon as she is housebroken she can sleep near you if thats what you decide. Mine do. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hmm. If she's barking only at the wall, maybe you have a leaky pipe or a mouse! IP: Logged |
