Teddy and I Miss her so much. And I'm so nervous because she's so little. Teddy seems a little down as well I think he's confused as to where she is this morning. My vet keeps the dogs all day so I won't be able to pick her up until around 8pm-9pm tonight. Friday's are surgery days and they keep the animals as long as possible to observe them. I know she is so scared. I have her dog bed all ready in my room for tonight. I want to keep her where I can keep an eye on her. I guess I'm just really nervous cause she's just a tiny little girl and she wasn't the healtiest thing when I first bought her home. She was only 5 weeks 1.5 lbs and invested with tape worms and round worms... I just miss her, I'm really a little sad. I almost canceled her appointment this morning but I know it's for the best, so I wanted to just get it over and done with.

i remember that day for bella like it was yesterday. i was a nervous mommy just like you. i got myself through it by reminding myself what a good parent i was for getting the spaying done. my vet kept bella all day too, for observation.
just keep telling yourself what good you are doing for her and the rest of the doggy population

All that matters now is that she is healthy now. When you get her home she will probably just be a little sore. If they are keeping her for observation thats good. So if anything happens she can be taken care of pronto. I'm sure she is fine. afterward the more she walks around the quiker the will get the anestetia(Drug) out of her system. Do not give her lots of water just tiny drinks. Anestetia can make her vomit if she drinks too much. She will be fine

*Beautiful*Girl,

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I brought Mickey & Tigger in on Monday to be neutered, and it absolutely broke my heart. But, I knew it was for the best, and that the vets office would take very good care of them (since I personally know all the people there and how much they love my two guys, I was a little more at ease about he whole thing)!
Mickey & Tigger only weigh about 9-10 lbs. each, but they were (and are) just fine despite their little size.

I too had to wait until later in the evening to pick them up which seem liked forever. When I went to pick them up they were as happy as could be, tails waggin' and everything. They were a little tired for the first day or two, but they are back to their "normal" selves already!

The hardest part was (and still is) trying to keep them from licking/biting the incision! During the days I have been lucky enough to be able to be home all day to keep an eye on them. For the first night though, I stayed up all night to watch them and make sure that they were ok. The next day I bought some "dog diapers" and lined them with some soft material (since the inside lining was plastic) and put those on them during the night to keep them from licking/biting the incision when I was asleep. I have to continue using them for the next five days, but they work like a charm!!! They are also a great alternative to the dreaded e-collar!

Just give Miette lots of love and attention!
And yes, she will forgive you!

Kristi

Thank you Bella, Puttin and Shipoo. Miette came home late last night. She was a little out of it but more alert than Teddy was when he had his operation. I've just been trying to keep her calm and prevent her from running up the steps. I let her in the back yard for about 30 min today. she was just sitting out their and didn't want to come in. If it wasn't so cold out I probably would have let her lounge longer but it's still a little chilly today. I'm so glad it's over and she seems fine, a little better than expected which is good. My bestfriend kept telling me stories of the condition of her female yorkie when she got her spayed it I think that put me in the wrong frame of mind. She fine and just wants to sit on my lap and watch tv. Teddy will have to wait a few days before he can play with her, I don't think he understands she can't play today. I keep shewing him away when he gets too rough and then he sits and sulks in the corner. Thank you all for your concern and advice I really needed to share my feelings with people who understand.
