I am getting my Yorkie Puppy this weekend, and I need any advice or helpful hints on how to train her to use a litter box like a cat. I have done a lot of reading but would like advice from those who have actually accomplished this. I live in a rural area with a large yard with hawks and donot want her outside without my supervision. Any help and products to use would be most helpful. Thank you! Any other advice about bringing up a Yorkie would be helpful. Wendy IP: Logged |

Congradulations on your Yorkie i have 2 they are both 1 year old now and i love them to death they are so cute and have great personalites. But they are still not all the way potty trained so i have no advice for litter training but the advice i do have is make sure you play with her ears and feet alot because if you dont it will be hard to put stuff in their ears and cut their nails also make sure you bath and brush her alot my little girl hates to be brushed and gets knots really bad so i have to shave her. I also try to brush their teeth once a week (she hates all of that grooming) But they are adorable they snuggle with me at night makes it hard to get up in the am but i Love them to death Good Luck with your baby, what are you going to name her?? and how old will she be Rene [This message has been edited by Rene (edited 01-07-2004).] IP: Logged |

WELCOME jkwg!!! I have never litter trained a dog (only cats), so I can't give you advice on that one! But, I did want to welcome you to the boards and congratulate you on your Yorkie puppy. I hope you find this board to be as helpful and fun as I have!!! All the Best, * One more thing, Rene gave you some GREAT advice about getting your puppy accustomed to all sorts of touching (ex. feet, ears, etc.) and brushing. It is such a good idea to begin this early on with your dog to get her used to it, and save you a lot of frustration later!!!
