I was looking for fill dirt on-line, and saw an ad for a female blue and white pitbull...free..now. The ad sounded like they would just give her to anyone, I couldn't stand the thought so I called..BIG MISTAKE I am to pick her up in twenty minutes..WTH am I doing? My husband is gonna freak. But I know I can place her in a safe home. IP: Logged |

You are so sweet Maisey . I'm glad that your going to help this girl find a good home...sounds like she is more likely to get a much better home with your help than she would with the people giving her to anybody for free. IP: Logged |

Yeah, they always say, NO MORE DOGS! until they see them. Just explain to him the situation. Have her vet checked just in case before allowing her near your pets, and then try to place a home through your vet. Good luck. and~ ahem ~ photos please! IP: Logged |

I'll have no problems letting her go...her and Witt hate each other and have been trying to kill each other. She chases the cats and is NOT just trying to play. She is not fully housetrained. She is very sweet and loving with the people. She loves to play, toys toys toys! She loves tug and is an absolute ball fanatic. She rides wonderfully in the truck. She doesn't lick or jump up on people, but she only seems to know "sit" and "drop it". She is skinny, I can see every bone in her body and she also just had puppies and is still loaded with milk. Her ears are filthy inside, she is sunburned and she hasn't stopped drinking since I brought her in the house. She is mostly white with a few blue spots and beautiful blue eyeliner around each gorgeous champagne colored eye. I am looking for a rescue or foster for her, something...anything before her and Witt do some real damage. IP: Logged |

Sounds like she's dog agressive, this is a trait in pitts.... I would keep them separated, and If she's that skinny, do not feeder her all that she wants!!! You can do more damage than good that way. She needs to be fed slowly, small amounts through out the day. ALso, if her milk is still hanging, watch for milk fever. Dogs tend to get this after whelping and poor nutrition combined. As for her ears, you can use a solution of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and warm water. 1/2 and 1/2... Use a cutip to clean ONLY the outside of the ear canal. Trying to get the inside out can push the "gunk" deeper. Causing an ear infection
GOod luck. You did a GREAT thing!! IP: Logged |

She is fine with my Poodle and Dooley, Witt is the one trying to lay down the law and she won't have none of it. I am guessing I will never be able to get another dog as long as I have Witt. He is fine with them outside, but not in HIS house. I think they are both alphas and thats the problem. I understand about feeding, I think this is from having the pups, often females look like hell after a litter. I think she needs to be wormed, heartworm is not generally an issue around here (yet). I have OtiCleanse for her ears. My biggest problem is what to do with her while I go to work...I think she will do anything to get out of a kennel. I think I am going to put the kennel in the back of my truck and just take her along so I can make sure she doesn't get hurt trying to escape. She is fine in it as long as I am right there, and she slept in it last night, but I don't trust her with nobody home. IP: Logged |

good idea bringing her to work to keep an eye on her, you dont want her to hurt herself trying to get out of the kennel. honeybear IP: Logged |

You can try listing her on PBRC if she's fixed (even if you have to find another foster for her, it's still a good source for potential adopters, or fosters if you're unable to find one), the website is http://www.pbrc.net Also, if you want to write up some information about her, I can crosspost to the APBT boards I'm on (others probably would as well if you post it to the APBT board here) and see if that generates any interest. Just include basic stuff like what she looks like, how much she weighs (or should weigh), how old she looks to be, any health problems, her temperament description, etc. Or I can just take the posts here and use those if you want, either way is fine Good luck with her, and I'll say that I appreciate you stepping up and keeping her from falling into bad hands even though your own situation isn't one that she fits well into. Thanks. IP: Logged |

Thank you Goob, I contacted a group called Pawsitively Pits that is local and I am hoping that when they get back to me they will be able to find a foster home for her. They do training and prepare dogs before adopting them out. She will need some basic obedience. If they won't I will have to have her spayed on my own and start a campaigne to find her a home, then I will send you all the info, I will appreciate the help. I talked to a vet today, (not my own) she wasn't the best of listeners, for some reason she couldn't get it through her head that I know the difference between a spat and a fight, she kept saying , "I'm sure they will adjust". HELLOOOOO, I wanted to scream. LOL. She is a gorgeous dog, her eyes are mesmerizing. She also has all the ball drive I wish Witt had! Can you all remind me next time not to jump in head first? Hi Maisey, Sometimes we act with our hearts instead of our heads! don't we....I only hope that no harm comes to Witt while she is with you. I know that you are keeping them seperated, but what a CHORE that must be. Good luck to you! and I hope someone takes her off your hands soon, and gives her a good home. Susan IP: Logged |
