I have had my bosemani for about two years now, a very friendly and playful fish, but the last week he has gotten ick! I did 1/3 water change (30g tank), and then I had added a sucker fish (placstms) and three albino catfish. All of the catfish died that day, and I checked the water levels, they were good. The bosemani didn't seem effected by it, but I decided to leave the tank alone so as not to upset the other fish, then this week I noticed he (bosemani) is abosolutely COVERED with ick. I have given him ick treatment all week, but no improvement and Iam worried because he is very quiet (lack of movement) most of the time and then he'll just have a moment where he freaks out and starts running into the sides of the tank!!! Then he goes back to being very dosile, which is unlike him to begin with...Any advice would be helpful! IP: Logged |

rainbows like salt. do you have any aquarium salt in the water? they like as much as 1 tbsp per 5 gallons, though you can certainly do less if your other fish don't like this much salt. this will also help get rid of the ich. good luck! oh, and maybe do another water change in a day or two. Don't forget that the ich is in your water, so any fish that goes in there will get sick also. You are not safe until the ich is cured. Buy an ich medication and raise the temperature a few degrees. You will also need to take out any carbon in your filters! Most of all, don't add any more fish... they will contract the disease too. IP: Logged |
