I have been doing alot of research on piranha and i have noticed alot of conflicting information. On some sites it recommends alot of shelter (plants, rocks ect) as piranha are very skitish fish, but on other sites it says to put minimal to no shelter because piranha are very territorial and my cause the fish to fight and cause harm to eachother. what do you guys think? ------------------ IP: Logged |

i would say shelter b/c it would let them feel safer in their surroundinngs, especially if sumthing like cleaning the tnak is going on. without the shelter, they will be under WAY more stress. how many pirahnas, what size tank, and what species are they? most of the time some coverage lets them all establish their own territories. thanks for your advice I have 4 RBP in a 80gal tank with 3 med plants and one big plant. I also have several large rocks and one rock cave which one piranha has claimed and wont let anyother ones near it. IP: Logged |

I think there are more good things about not having alot of decor versus having lots of it, when it comes to piranha... although decor does look nice. The ups of having no shelter are, the fish don't get territorial, more space to swim, and the tank stays more clean which mean better water conditions for faster growing. IP: Logged |
