Well, most of the time, "showing a horse", is where you enter your horse(s) in a class. A class is like, jumping, or trail, or barrel racing. And you go out and "show" your horse. You can win things, like ribbons. If I didn't explain that clearly enough, just ask on your post again lol. IP: Logged |

Showing can define many things. Mainly, people find a good quaility registered horse to represent their breed, they raise them, train them, and then enter them in diffrent "shows" and competitions to compete for the Best of breeds, Speed, Performance. Go to the AQHA.com site. You can see many shows coming up and read up on it as well. IP: Logged |

Horse showing is very fun and can help you a lot about horses! I'll give you an example. Say there is a horse show at your local fairgrounds. There would be many different classes you could enter in, depending on what you and your horse are interested in. Some horse showing is done on the ground, where you lead your horse around and judges judge the way you handle your horse and the way your horse behaves. There are also halter classes in which judges look at the conformation of your horse (bone structure, muscle mass). And then there are the riding classes. In a Pleasure class, several horses are in the arena and judge stands in the middle asking you to walk, trot, lope, turn, back up etc. There are tons of classes! You just have to decide which one's you're interested in! IP: Logged |

Definately, you should attend some and later after you've learned what you need, try and enter some!! ITs for fun, and the rewards are much greater than just winning trophies and money! Im sure your horses will love it just as much! IP: Logged |

AHHH horse shows!! All my 6 years I spent in FFA are coming back!! (well i did just graduate last may... lol)Anyhow, I showed and judged horse competitions and Showing is one of the GREATEST things EVER! I had so much fun! I liked judging too, because I didnt have to prep myself and the horse, and I got alot more information on stuff I needed or wanted to know. You can show your horse by breed, it just takes u keeping the coat clean and shiny, keeping them blemish free and their hooves right. It takes some time to get everything down espeically if u are new at it! If u like riding Barrel Racing could be for you! I practiced every day for 3 hours with my horse, just walking around the barrel a few times then running once or twice, trotting a few times.. lead her through it to get everything down, let her see alot of people and I gave her alot of attention afterwards so she knew that she was safe and it was fun. She loved it, truly loved it, I even gave her a barrel in her pasture and let her roll it around, she would kick it and run.. like it was gonna chase her! O goodness I am way off of the topic now! lol!! Anyway, showing can be done in many ways, halter, barrel racing, breed, all sorts of stuff!! If u have a QH u might think about joining the AQHA.. I am member and u get a Mane Points magazine every couple of months with great tips for working with your horse, and all kinds of stuff! Just a thought! Email me if u like! stephanie200318@aol.com IP: Logged |
