i got 2 new budgies about 2 months ago they will both eat out of my hand its so cute ....ok back to my question i want to take them out of there cage but im a little worried about it. there clipped and i think they need to come out i was wondering if i took them in a room thats safe for them to come out and if i took the lid off of the cage and let them come out would that be ok or is that a horrid idea i would just let them walk around and hold them what do you guys think? I have a budgie that luckily hasn't been clipped but I let her out the moment I got her. I'm sure Im teaching you to suck eggs - but ensure all windows are shut and always shut the door as you leave their room, whilst they are free. Finally when entering the room also creep in carefully (you'll be surprised the way they walk around without a care in the world) pick them up if on the floor and that will help them to trust you. Not particulary useful help, but the moral is don't worry or try to train as they get on with it and do what they want - or perhaps thats my spoilt brat! IP: Logged |

Hi,My budgie is almost 15 years old now and still loves to come out of her cage and walk around or just be held. She never goes too far from me, and she also enjoys sitting near a window (closed, of course) where she can listen to the wild birds outside. Enjoy your babies!! Zoe IP: Logged |

Hi............. I agree. I have 3 Budgies (plus 4 eggs as of this morning), 2 Cockatiels and a Timneh African Gray and they are all out almost all day! The Gray is clipped and my newest Cockatiel is too. I have had the others clipped, but they fly anyway. I would never keep a bird and make it stay in it's cage all of it's life. Yes, be real careful about them walking on the floor and have fun! Betty IP: Logged |

Well if your still thinking of letting your birds out you should first make sure they aren't terrified of you. See if they know how to go up on your finger if they do know how to go on your finger then you should take them to a safe room and let them roam around but make sure ur close to them at all times!
