Hi........ I'm new here, as of today. I have an African Gray Timneh, two Cockatiels, three Budgies and a cat. I have a question I hope someone can answer for me soon. One of my budgies, Buddy,(I didn't name her...lol) laid 4 eggs this morning. The problem is that I put up a nesting box and she has been using it for a couple of weeks and loves it, but she didn't lay her eggs in the nesting material. They are just in the back of the wooden box. Will she be able to sit on them long enough to hatch them or should I make a nest myself and put the eggs in it for her? I also thought maybe I should just get more nesting material and drop it in. I don't want to put my smell on them or to scare her away from sitting on them. Please let me know if anyone knows the answer to this or how I can find out. I couldn't find any bird breeders in the phone book. I also need to know if I should get anything special for her to eat or for her to feed them when they hatch. Also, should I clean the box out or will she do that? It's not like a nest in a tree where they can just clean it out and throw the mess on the ground. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. I have also raised 5 wild rescue birds, but I can't do that any more because of a lung condition. Thank You, Betty IP: Logged |

Hey well first of all you should think if breeding these animals is what you want to do because it isn't that easy and if she is supposed to sit on her legs she will do it when its the right time to do it IP: Logged |
