Okay well my lutino cockatiel was spreding his wings out for like 15 seconds without moving. I was wondering if anyone nows what that means? I herd its a property thing but its usually girls who do it and they do it on the top of there cage so I was wondering if thats because he was bored or something please explain. By the way if you can help me learn more about cockatiels I had my cockatiel for a week or so so please help my email is bring_it97@hotmail.com

My female cockatiel does the same thing. I think it's a mechanism for making her look bigger and more powerful when she's feeling threatened. Sometimes I think she does it because it just feels good. I've had her for 20 years and she's done this regularly.

Hissing is just another defense mechanism. My bird hisses sometimes, but she's never bitten me when she's in this mood. Have you tried talking sweetly to him - sometimes this helps. Birds react to your tone of voice so speaking softly helps.

cockatiels spread there wings like that as its exercising its wings you will also find if u spray it lightly wif warm water it will do the same do you let the bird out of its cage reguarly as they need plenty of exercise i won 3 cockatiels and 19 budgies most of them are out in an avairy but you have nothing to worry about with the wing spreading its just stretching like we wud do

hope that helps
