one of my cockatiels has laid eggs but 2 of them have little egg type things floating around it them i have been told i shud not remove them as any changes inside the egg shud b treated as if it is fertile can any one help me as i dont want to infect my other eggs if this has any for of bacteria in it

Charmedagain, I would take the eggs, wrapped up and warm to your avian vet to have looked at. That way they can tell you whether or not it is o.k. to keep it with your mother bird. If it is bacterial, the sooner you get them away from your birds the better, if it's not and they're just fertile, no harm done you can just put them back in the nest when you get home. Of course while you are gone I would leave substitute eggs about the same size, shape, and color in the nest so the mother hen can continue to exhibit the proper behaviors. IP: Logged |
