I'll try to make this short! I work and go to school full time and wanted a friend for my female cockatil because she was lonely, now i have three eggs shes sitting on. They are bothe over a year old, my female's about 18 months, the male won't help her sit on the eggs and frankly she's pretty pissed at him. My problem is the male has been shrieking and running around the cage like a madman! I'm afraid i'm going to get evicted from my apartment because he's so loud. Is there amnything i can do, he's not very tame and i let him out of the cage a little bit everyday, but i need help! Would it be harmful for my female to remove him now? Any info is appreciated! thanks

HI There.
Male cockatiels are very vocal especially when its time for breeding.
When the hen lays she does not usually sit tight on her eggs until all the eggs are laid cockatiles usually have between 4-6 eggs.
Males sit on them during the day females sit on them at night.

Covering the cage with a cloth should quieten him down removing him will make the noise worse as the hen will start calling out for him and him calling for her.

If your not wanting babies remove each egg boil it then allow to cool mark with a number and give back to the hen and allow to sit for the incubation period which is usually 21 days.

If you were just to remove the eggs she would just lay more to replace the eggs removed.

If you would like anymore advice on breeding and feeding of cockatiels please feel free to email me boro_lad1976@hotmail.com
