I have two birds, a canary and a parakeet. Both are females. I am thinking about adding a Lutino ockatiel to the group. He/she may or may not live with the other two, depending on how things go. I am actually hoping that he/she will form a strong bond with me. I would like to be able to teach it how to talk, and perhaps even perform fun tricks. I've been doing as much research as possible. So far I've found that both sexes are equally entertaining and loveable, but are there any other sex-linked qualities I should know about?

Hi, Male and female cockatiels are both fine to have.
Males learn alot quicker but the females are more loving.

I have 4 cockatiels providing they are handled regulary they will be just fine.
Also when they are not well they can be very moody which is just like all living things.

But like i say either sex is fine to have

Thanks for the tip Yes, I did read that males are more vocal and females more affectionate. If I were to get a female, would my other birds (both hens, one canary, one parakeet) be more likely to exhibit fowl behavior than if I got a cock??
