I've got two male parakeets and they'll be two next month. They're untamed still. Can someone PLEASE help me with this?!?! I really love and enjoy just watching them but I want to interact with them. Mango is really stressed out easily and bites extremely hard. He's scared of me more than his brother Kiwi is. Please e-mail me with suggestions at volleybchik_23@hotmail.com, any help at all is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you! IP: Logged |

you can tame them by placing your hand in the cage for 15-20min every day but slowly get closer to them each day. keep this up until you can pet their chests (bite free) then tyr to get them to perch on your finger. any further questions just ask. oh and some birds dont like to be "petted" my 2 year old parakeet loves attention but nipps when pet. Hi Taming 2birds is harder and it will take longer as they have bonded but it can be done with time and patience. As tim says placing your hand in the cage slowly for 15-20mins slowly getting closer to the bird each time you do it you will find they will come to your hand. I have 16 parakeets ( budgies ) and 4 cockatiels and all are very tame and come straight to my hand providing you dont rush things it will all work out in the end also offer fruit or veg when placing your hand in the cage this also helps with taming.
