Can anyone help me? My female budgie regurgitates after each feeding and it makes me worried cause it hurts her. she has been taken to a vet already and got antibiotics, which helped a little but after the last injection she got ill again. the vet said she had an ulcer or something. Can anyone recommend any home-made medicine or tea or something, please? I don't want her to get injections anymore IP: Logged |

Okay, there are a few things you didn't mention. How old, approximatly, is she? Is she eating seed, pellets, or are you handfeeding her? If so, are you making the food the correct temperature? What's wrong with her, and what are they injecting her with? If she's eating seed, is she husking them or eating them whole? IP: Logged |

Hi! thanks for your reply. To answer your questions: My budgie is approximately 5 yrs old and eats seeds. She already got enrofloxacine, marbofloxacine, and oxytetracycline, after which it was little better. Yesterday she vomited the whole meal from the crop, the seeds were whole. among them was some saliva. After vomiting she was better, but it still hurt her, she was closing her eyes, bowing and was nervous. These were also her clinical signs why I took her to the vet. I think her crop might be inflammated. Do you know how to lessen her pain? Her vet does't know how to help her anymore. IP: Logged |

Hi, Did you take her to an avian vet as they deal with birds. Sounds like your bird has an infection in her crop. i would suggest making sure she has plenty of added vitamins that can either go in her water or in her food. remove her seed food and Feed her an egg formula designed for hand feeding baby birds this is good for her as it contains all the vitamins and minerals she needs. Warm her water before giving her it and change it 3-4 times a day this will help flush her crop and any infection that may be there.. Boiled eggs with the shell crushed into it is also good stuff to feed.. Mike IP: Logged |

Hi. If your budgie is male, he may consider his plastic bird as his partner. In this situation feeding is nothing to worry about. Pay attention that the regurgitated content does include only seed. If any mucus is present it could indicate inflamation of your budgies crop. In this case consult a vet. IP: Logged |

Hi Remove the plastic bird as this will stop him regurtitaing his food as this can be harmful to him if he keeps doing it. When there is 2 birds in the same cage wether its 2 males 2 females or female/female this is normal behaviour if you dont stop the habit now it will be hard to break. For crop infections its simply remove the his food and feed a egg food made to hand feed baby birds, Give him warm water every couple of hours as this will flush the crop of any germs that maybe in there. keep a close eye on him and if he stops eating all together seek advice from an avian vet who will check the bird over.
