Hello well this is my first question since we got our new budgie. I need help he is mean and bites hard he used to let us take him out of his cage but would try to fly around now he freaks out if you put your hand in his cage so i told my son you are the boss make him come out so my son held him nicley caught him and brought him out of his cage he bit the heck out of my son so i tried he bit me to and will not let us touch him if we pull him out he bites us and flies (or tries his wings are cliped) right back to his cage. How do i make him nice it hurts when he bites my son is giving up he is tired of being bit thanks IP: Logged |

Hi it sounds like your bird has had a fright when being take out of the cage and its only protection is by biting. You can not show a bird who is boss as birds are not taught to respect the hand that feed like cats and dogs are. The only thing you can really do is every 15mins or so place your hand in the cage dont take him out or grab him as grabbing him will scare him and cause him to bite to take a bird from the cage he/she must come to you and sit on your hand or finger. keep doing this slowly placeing your finger against his chest eventually he will start and sit on your hand again and be calm when you put your hand in. mike. boro_lad1976@hotmail.com IP: Logged |
