I have recently (1 week) purchased a parakeet. He is not very active since being at home. He also is very quiet, not chirping at all unless frightened. He also stands on one foot at times. He appears to be underweight according to what I have learned. Any sggestions for a high calorie food to help with weight gain would be appreciated. We have him on vitamins daily, and he is eating his seed and grit. Thanks! jms2468 IP: Logged |

If you only have one keet, then that may be the reason to why it is silent, however, it may be because your keet is a female. Females tend to be more quiet than the males; if you give them toys, they will play a lot! Uh..what else...also, ur new keet needs to get use to the new environment. If your bird stands on one foot when it's resting then it means that it is healthy and fine. Keets, believe it or not love boiled eggs! just boil them, and cut it in quarters and put it in its cage. They also love greens (like crazy!)But if they do not eat the first few weeks, it's cuz it needs to identify it as food, so just keep promoting it! Have fun, they're adorable once they get to know you and use to you. IP: Logged |
