hey
i have a budgie and hes got kinda long nails...should we get them but at the vet?? ive heard they can die from shock tho....or is it fine to let em grow..we have those rough perches for him too so it files them down but it doesnt help much...

Hi, You can eiether take him to the vets and have them clipped or you can use sanded perches and sanded paper sheets for the bottom of the cage these usually help keep the birds nails and beak short.

If the nails are too long then a vet will need to clip them if your not sure to do it urself as if the become too long when he scratches or walks he may hurt himself

hey, I had to get my keets nails cut like 1 week after i bought her. i knew her nails were to long becuase when she would walk on the floor she would get her nail cought in the carpet and trip. i took her to the pet store where they had a avian vet person cut them right in front of me *only like 2 dollars*. she didnt squak or do anything so she wasnt stressed at all. but i have started using san paper things on the perches and i havent had to get them clipped.
