I recently got two parakeets, (Skyy and Boo)they were afraid of my family and I at first but then they got used to us. About a week ago i got another bird, (Jerry, super cute) thats when the problem started. Skyy and Boo are always cranky ever since Jerry came into the picture. There always fighting over there perches and peking eachother. What should I do... should i separate them, get a bigger cage or more peches?????? HELP IP: Logged |

hey,the problem is that you set the new bird in the cage with out them getting use to each other, birds make territory. so having the new one come in there territory its bad, all they will do is bite at the new one. i had 1 parakeet and i just bough a new one so i bought a smaller cage(for the new bird) so my first parakeet got use to the new one. they say leave the new one in the cage for about a month before putting her in the bigger cage with the old bird. so far my birds are doing good. -kyle IP: Logged |

Hi, When getting a new bird they should be placed in spereated cages for about a week this will not just give them time to get used to each other but will also give you time to keep an eye on the new bird and make sure it is healthy and has no illnesses which may pass onto you older bird. Give them time and they will become friends when i first started with my birds i had 2females and 1 male they had there little fights but this stopped after a couple of days providing there not causing damage or hurt to each other and not causing one to bleed then everything will work out. mike IP: Logged |
