Hi first off you need to know if you have the room to house more birds? Can You cope with having to hand feed the chicks if the parents reject them? Do you have a brooder to keep them warm also if parents reject them. Secondly there should be enough nest boxes for all the females there should also be no birds unpaired. The room temprature needs to be kept correct. You need to know when your females are in breeding mode. Mike. IP: Logged |

well there is one nest so far but when some birds go in it thay pick out the nesting materials in it. So I am confused about that. And if the supplys are needed then we will get them. Cages, we have 1 big cage (where all of them are at right now and then we have 2 more smaller cages. So I think we have a room and I know my first couple are going on 2 1/2 years 2nd pair is going on 1 1/2 and 3rd pair is almost 1 1/2. So they are all around that same age . IP: Logged |

There should be a nest box postioned at the same height for each pair. You will find that budgies will throw out nesting material as they are not nest builders. Providing the nests are the same height then each pair should pick there own nest and will protect it from the others. Provide them with soft foods like boiled pasta, brown rice, whole wheat bread, boiled eggs you can even mash the shells in with Also they will need to have a dish of warm water available to them this helps keep the nest moist and makes it easier for chicks to break out of the shells when hatching. mike.
