Hello again everyone!! I need some help here, Buffy hasnt eaten much all day today. She is drinking her water and will eat a treat or two but is uninterested in her food. Could she just be off her feed because she is teething?? She is almost 5 months old. Any sugestions would be appreciated!! Thanks!! IP: Logged |

Hi, It could be her teething. How many times a day are you feeding her? Do you have any cats? I know my dad was worried about his dog because he didn't seem hungary for days. Then he realized the dog had been eating the cats food and was filling up on that. If she is eating treats, she may be okay. When we first got Harley she was a fussy eater. Her previous owners fed her crappy food so when we started feeding her more natural food she didn't take to it right away. What I had to do for the first couple of days was put some of the kibble in my hand and feed it to her like a treat. Just 3 or 4 pieces in my hand and say Harley, what's this? For some reason this worked and within a couple of days she regained her appetite and was eating normally again. Also, because her gums are sore, she may find the kibble to hard on them for her. Try giving her some softer food to see how she does with that. IP: Logged |

No need to worry. All dogs will dis their food at one time or another throughout their lives. I've had these dogs for the best part of almost 20 years and at any given time, they may only take in a mouthful of food in a two day period. It could be anything minor, to teething, to tummy upset, to just not being hungry. Now, if the dog doesn't want to eat anything for more than a few days, I would be more concerned. If puppy is eatting treats, just feed a few of those, but I wouldn't make it a habit of it, or else you will have a dog who will dis their food for the treats (that they like better). IP: Logged |
