Today I made a horrible discovery! I'm still in shock. Lastnite I was almost in tears because I thought my dog was missing. This wasn't one of my Pit Bulls, but the Boxer. She was about 6 years old now. She came from a Back Yard Breeder so she had health problems her whole life and a poor temperament. Still I loved her and consdired her one of the best dogs. She was put outside yesterday and so was my house Pit who was tied out while the Boxer runs free in the fence. I went outside to play with the dogs, using a tennis ball. I let santana off the chain, the Boxer wouldn't play. Later I chained santana back up and went inside. I needed to take care of Val and get some other stuff done. Although the Boxer hates being outside it was a nice day and its good for her to get some fresh air. In her 6 years she would never try to excape and wouldn't leave the yard not even with the gate open. I let santana in to eat and my Boxer was standing looking around. About 40 mins later her food was made, I went to call her in from outside and she didn't come. I went outside and began looking all over for her. I was like no way, where can she be?? If she's not out here, she wouldn't leave the yard. After I couldn't find her I thought she must have got mad and found a way out to punish me for leaving her outside. She has a way of taking revenge, she was almost human and a part of the family. Thats why I loved her so much and miss her deeply. I knew today would be a very busy day, I was out all day until 4:30 and I had already decided lastnite that I needed to make a ton of flyers with her pic and check around. I figured if she got loose she had to run far fast because anywhere around here everyone knows she mine and would return her I'm certain. I wanted to go out at 4:30 to give Santana some excersize because the whether was so nice and before it starts getting dark, come in and make the flyers then put them out tomorrow. Well I'm outside and Santana is using the springpole. The Boxer has a big dog house, but she NEVER uses it, its just a dog house thats been here forever and she will only use it if its raining and she's left out. Otherwise no way. I'm just chilling outside when I see a huge fly on the doghouse, then I look down and her head is sticking out. At first your mind tells you there is your dog, but then reality hits and you realize there is your dead dog! I was petrified I couldn't believe it. I knew her time would come soon, but I figured she'd be here til next summer/fall I could tell she's been getting worse and worse without anything that can be done for her. I knew she would probably die prematurly 6 is a young age, just not now. She was one of the best companions ever and has been with me all these years. She was always so loving and if I was gone for 5 mins she would act like she hadn't seen me in ages. I no longer have a dog to greet me when I come in the door. I was sick and worried lastnite of where she may be, cold, scared, stolen, ect Thats all I could think about. I know she is probably much better off no more suffering in her life and she lived a good life, but its still hard to let go. I miss you girl!!

True_Pits: I'm choking right now after reading this. My beautiful greyhound mix which I smuggled across the border of Mexico after I found him as a half starved pup. I came home and found him dead in the back yard a year ago in January. He was 13yrs. To this day I don't know what happened. He was getting old and slowing down, but didn't see anything serious. He use to eat grass and retched so hard. I only was gone three hours and when I found him he had grass in his mouth. I thought maybe he choked and blacked out, or even someone might have thrown something poisonous over the wall. We dug his grave in the backyard and made a shrine. I still grieve to this day and have his pics all over my wall. I'm trying to erase the image of finding him dead. His name was Cedo. May he rest in peace. He still comes to me in dreams. I think he's watching over me. I'm so sorry for your baby. I hope he will visit you in your dreams. IP: Logged |

I'm sorry to see this, and can only imagine how horrible it must have been for you to find her At least she had a good life, despite it not being nearly long enough. She was a beautiful dog, and you were lucky to have had her for the time you did. IP: Logged |

Its so hard to get over her. I expect her to be there, to great me, to come to my door at night, to get all excited, ect. Santana misses her just as much, she has been searching the house for her all morning. You can't explain to a dog that another dog is gone. I feel so bad for her, looking for her playmate. She has been acting really weird. After she searches she will come up to me and perk her ears as if she is asking "where's my buddy?" I'm really sorry about your dog loves-da-pits. IP: Logged |

I am SO sorry for you loss. Almost three years ago, I lost my best friend am American staffordshire Terrier to kidney disease. She too was from a back yard breeder and was born the runt of the litter. She died at the tender age of 3 1/2. Her name was Jasmine and she was my best friend. I still cry every time I think of her which is often. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Here is a site that is truly comforting. The Pet Prayer Line. I believe that animals have souls and we shall one day be reunited. Take care of yourself. Sincerly, Susan IP: Logged |

I am really sorry True_Pits. I lost my aussie a few months ago. At least I didn't have another dog searching for her, although, since she slept in the garage with the cat (she got old and started peeing in the house at night) for a week or two after she died the cat would howl late into the night, guess she had gotten used to the dogs company in there. I'm sooo sorry. Our first heeler, Gris was a healthy, spoiled rotten dog...he was 7. Well Granvel left to register for class, and took the Camero, and didn't want Gris in the car, so he left him at home. Now, the dog never gets out of the back of the truck. HE LOVES TO RIDE! Unless he has to go potty.... Its sad. BUt just remember. Their all watching over us, and waiting for us. IP: Logged |
